Dr. Anu Vij (MD; FICOG ; PGDHHM ; PGDMLS ) is one of the senior Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She has an experience of more than 30 years. Dr. Anu Vij’s work experience and professional training have been extensive both in India and abroad. She did her MBBS and postgraduation (M.D.) from GSVM, KNP - INDIA.

She Gained first hand on experience at Breach Candy Hospital by working under doyens of Ob-Gyn like Dr. R P Soonawala, Dr. N D Motasha, Dr. Hansotia etc. Started practice in Navi Mumbai from 1994 a very humble start with a small maternity home. From the very beginning the focus was on providing quality maternity care at affordable price . It was always a patient centric baby friendly nursing home which slowly spread its roots and grew in catering to the increasing patient numbers and varying requirements. Slowly her expertise included adolescent/teenage sexual health and a dedicated Adolescent Health Clinic was started on Wednesday of every week. It met with huge popularity and received good response. Vaccination of young girls against Cervical Cancer started here. The Clinic stated catering to a large number of PCOD patients who had a myriad of problems. The services of a Dietitian, Laser Clinic were added to the armamentarium. With a single speciality clinic becoming a multi specialty clinic, slowly her circle of practice widened and included the Menopause age group as well. Peri menopausal counselling, diagnostics and surgeries were well catered to. Then came another chance to add another branch to the ever growing tree of medical practice: sexual health and sexuality. Dr. Vij attended the Sexual Medicine School at Budapest in 2015 to gain insights into the not-so-openly discussed topic. This was conducted by the European School of Sexual Medicine (ESSM). In 2016, a new chapter was added in female medical history. So impressed was Dr. Vij with this knowledge that she organised an International Conference on Sexuality and Sexual Health for the benefit of her colleagues and fellow gynaecologists in Navi Mumbai.

She was the President of Navi Mumbai Ob-Gyn Society at that time. The Conference was an instant hit; it broke the ice and started a dialogue on a taboo topic. Needless to say, the patients have also benefited after that as the clinicians have included sexual health in their history taking. Fetus as a patient was recognised by her way back in 2009 after attending a National conference in Chennai. Following this the new concept of Prenatal Screening and Testing was introduced in her practice. She is one of the first few who started doing Prenatal Screening for Down’s Syndrome and other chromosomal anomalies.

She again conducted a Workshop on the same with pioneers of Fetal Medicine in the year 2010 for the knowledge and benefit of her Gynaec fraternity in Navi Mumbai. She has been active at working for the Society as well. During her Presidential years, she has done PPP with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation in treating High Risk pregnancies. Being abreast with advances in technology and trying to implement it in her practice is her forte. She stressed on introducing Neonatal Screening or Newborn Screening after delivery to diagnose certain medical conditions which do not manifest at birth like Hypothyroidism, G6PD deficiency. This helped many babies by early diagnosis and early treatment.

She believes in Team Work; she believes we can give better results as a Team. She has a trained Fetal Medicine expert, a trained neonatologist to attend all deliveries, a trained senior anaesthetist, a surgeon to help her attain her goal: a healthy mother and a healthy baby.
